TaskBar v1.0 Copyright © Jon Grieve 1994 Having extracted the files from the TaskBar archive, you should have the following files: README.TXT (This file) TASKBAR.EXE TASKBAR.WRI TASKBAR.HLP TBRES.DLL BTTNCUR.DLL TABFRAME.VBX TOOLBAR.VBX TOOLTIP.VBX VBASM.DLL VBCTL3D.VBX VBMSG.VBX Refer to the TASKBAR.WRI file for the revision history and further details. Refer to the Help file for Copyright information. Installation ------------ The fastest and easiest way of installing TaskBar, is copy all the files to the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. If installing over a previous version, it is advisable to delete any currently installed components, although your TASKBAR.INI file should not be overwritten, as it contains any setup information previously saved. To install TaskBar as the Windows Task List, edit the SYSTEM.INI file, and change (or add) the entry 'TaskMan.EXE=TaskBar.EXE' in the [Boot] section. Known problems -------------- When installing the DLL's and VBX's used by TaskBar, as always, it is advisible to check the date and time on the files, and always use the newest verson. The version of VBCTL3D.VBX shipped with TaskBar v1.06 onwards is not fully compatible with earlier versions of VBCTL3D.VBX - and TaskBar will produce "Invalid File Format" messages if an earlier version of VBCTL3D.VBX is found. Replacing VBCTL3D.VBX with the newer version will not impact on any other applications using the control. Registration ------------ If you like TaskBar, and want to continue using it, please take the time to register it. Registration details are available in the TaskBar Help file. If, for any reason, you have a TaskBar license file (TASKBAR.LIC) you are not entitled to, i.e. the 'Registered To' section in the About... window does not show your name, this file must be deleted, and a valid registration paid for. Failure to do this breaks TaskBar's copyright. Thank you for taking the time to try TaskBar. Jon Grieve
